Tris, Point of View

While you read the book Divergent is written by Veronica Roth you will see that the story is told in the perspective of Tris Prior. Tris lives a simple life style until she made the risky decision of staying in the peaceful faction of Abnegation to the brave and powerful Dauntless faction. Being in this position is very hard for Tris. She has to adapt to a brand new lifestyle and becomes a different person.

In Tris's view of everything is that everything should be split up evenly and everyone should have there own part. Yet this book is written in Tris's perspective I think that this story could have many other narrators too. The other character that I think could tell the story be Caleb. Caleb is Tris's brother. They are both the same age so Caleb had to choose a faction to go to. Caleb sadly chose the enemy faction of the Abnegation called the Euridute. If Caleb told the story it would just be him talking about how his faction is planning some threat to his old faction and how he could stop the problem.

The last person that could tell the story would be Jeaneen Mathews. She is the leader of the Euridute. If she told the story everyone that would of read it would think she was Hitler of World War two. The story from her perspective would be her just telling everyone on her plans to destroy Abnegation. The book would would be a terrible story if she told it from her perspective.

In the end I think that there could only be two narrators that would make the book interesting. Those two people would have to be Caleb and Tris. I still believe that Tris is the best fit for the narrator in this book because the author planned it out so well for her to be telling the story.

Compare and Contrast essay

Tris, the character in the book Divergent and Katniss from the book the Hunger Games both have many similarities but they both have many differences. In both of these books the two characters told the story from their own perspective. Here are the similarities and differences between the two characters.

One similarity between Tris and Katniss is that they are both very brave. Here are some examples of bravery which Katniss has demonstrated through out the story the Hunger Games. Katniss has the responsibility of providing food for her family and needs to go past " the fence" which is a fence along each district which no one is supposed to pass. Katniss goes past there every day to get food for her family to eat. That shows a huge amount of bravery. Another example of bravery is that Katniss volunteered for tribute for her little sister Primrose.

Some examples of bravery  by Tris is when she was at the choosing ceremony for the sections, and she slid her hand over the dauntless bowl at the last second because she wanted to learn how to be brave. When she got to the dauntless base, the leaders told all of the new tributes to jump off a roof onto something no one knew about. Tris ended up jumping first into something she had no clue about but it ended up to just be a net. To be the first jumper shows a lot of bravery.

One last similarity between these two characters is that they both care for there families a lot. Katniss volunteer for tribute for Prim because she knew Prim had no chance and it would be to much to handle for her. Tris on the other hand went to go tell her brother in a whole other sector an important message that their mom told to Tris. If she would of gotten caught seeking out and sending her brother the message she could of gotten executed.

The only main differences between these two characters is that Tris falls in love with her teacher/teammate Katniss falls in love with one, Peeta her enemy which she is trying to kill for some part and Gale her ifelong best friend.

In conclusion there are many similarities and some differences between Katniss and Tris. Even though these characters come from two different books they both have the same personality and act the same. In the end I think that Tris and Katniss have more similarities than differences.

Compare and Contrast

For this compare and contrast piece I will be comparing Katniss from the book the Hunger games to Tris from the book Divergent.

Tris:
She is unselfish and does her work on her own.
Tris has a little bit more money than Katniss.
Tris is provided food
Makes friends easily.

Same:
They both come from the same type of living style.

Katniss and Tris are both very brave. Some examples of that is that Tris chose Dauntless and Katniss volunteered to be tribute.

They both love there families. An example is that Tris risked a death to go and tell her brother important message and once again Katniss volunteered for tribute.

Both of them are used to old technology but then they go somewhere and get to use high tech gadgets.

Katniss:
She needed sponcers to make it through so Katniss didn't do the work on her own
She hunts for her own food.
Katniss is the person that feeds her family.
Doesnt make friends that easily.
